NEW DELHI: After sensitive data are leaked from Navy War room now another leak, that too from National Security Council Secretariat has rocked the nation.

Police are trying to zero in on the recipients of the sensitive information believed to have been leaked from the National Security Council Secretariat in the wake of the arrest of a senior systems analyst at the centre of the country's intelligence agencies.

Police were analysing phone records, bank statements and computer records of Shib Shankar Paul, a Class I officer at the Secretariat, to identify the recipients of the information, police sources said.

Several persons close to Paul, including some employed at the Secretariat, were questioned by Delhi police and intelligence agencies to gather information about Paul and the extent of his access to documents at the sensitive office.

Paul was arrested from his home on Nangal Rai near Janakpuri on June 10 by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police following a tip off from the Intelligence Bureau.

He has been charged with sections of the Official Secrets Act for spying and passing on vital documents.

Police claim that Paul had met an American woman at the Indo-US Cyber meet in March last year and had allegedly passed on several sensitive documents to her since then.

The Janakpuri residence of Paul was raided by the police from where they seized several floppy and compact discs, a pen drive and several issues of magazines on strategic affairs. Paul, who was interrogated thoroughly for 12 days by the police officers at the Lodhi Road office of the Special Cell, is presently in judicial custody.
