Shefali Zariwala has a serious thorn in her side. The ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl has been slapped with a police complaint against her, for failing to turn up at a show in Lucknow. But according to Zariwala, she’s never heard of the complainant.

“It’s amazing that someone I have never seen, never dealt with personally, has filed a police complaint that he has paid me advance for a show in Lucknow two years ago,” said Zariwala. “Tomorrow, anybody can file a complaint against anybody. If this is not blackmail and harassment, then what is it?”

Umesh Kori of Kori Film International had filed a police complaint  and taken the matter to the Kurla court which had asked the Sion police station to investigate the matter. Kori has alleged that he had arranged a show on February 14, 2004, in Lucknow where Jariwala had agreed to perform. He has said that she did not turn up despite of taking advance money, and that her air tickets and stay in a five-star hotel had been booked. Jariwala has consulted lawyers to find out if blackmail  and harassment charges can be brought against Kori.

Her father said, “It’s a lie. Some two people had met me at my Lokhandwala residence requesting for Shefali’s  participation in the show.  I mentioned that a full and final payment of Rs 3 lakh had to be made before the show. The other terms were two business class return tickets, six dancers to travel by 3-tier AC, a stay in a five-star hotel, proper security and so on. Nobody turned up after that and there was no communication.”
