No change in Hrishida’s condition

The condition of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, who is suffering from chronic renal failure, continues to remain critical. The 83-year-old is undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital, Bandra.

“There has been no significant change in his condition. He remains critical and is in the ICU on life support system,” said Vaishali Rajpara, administrative officer of the hospital.

Hospital officials said his advanced age is a serious impediment to his recovery.

“We cannot say for sure when he will be discharged from the hospital. Though his vital parameters like heart rate and blood pressure are stable, he is still seriously ill,” Rajpara added.

Hrishida, as the filmmaker is fondly addressed by his friends and colleagues, has been suffering from renal failure since last year and has been visiting the hospital for dialysis three times a week since then. Among those who came to pay him a visit at the hospital on Wednesday were actor Jaya Bachchan and filmmaker/lyricist Gulzar.
