Pandit is making documentaries on last year's deluge and 11-year-old who saved her mother from robbers.

Lest we forget, says filmmaker and activist Ashoke Pandit, he's got a documentary on last year's deluge.

The film, Paani, is aimed at creating awareness and raising accountability.  He told DNA, "Carelessness on the part of the administration led to the catastrophe of July 26, 2005. Through Paani, I want to point out that a crisis gets out of hand only because our administrators don't do their jobs efficiently." Pandit shot footage of the disaster over a period of 20 days. The 25-minute film aims to "confront the government for its inadequacies during a crisis".

Pandit has paid tribute to the media in the documentary for being "present at all those places where civic authorities and rescue teams could not reach".

The filmmaker plans to take the documentary to slums and residential colonies across the city, "The voice-over is in English, Hindi and Marathi so that it can reach as many people as possible. The idea is to involve the common man in holding the government accountable."

Pandit is now interested in making a film on the 11-year-old Antara whose presence of mind saved her mother, calling her "a true braveheart".

Antara had heard some unusual sounds during her bath on Tuesday. She came out to find her mother being held down by intruders, with revolvers and knives. "One of them had pinned my mother down and was trying to gag her with a handkerchief. Knowing it was impossible to grapple with them, I ran inside the bedroom and bolted myself in. I then tried calling my father (Laughter Challenge star Raju Srivastav), but his phone was not reachable. So I shouted for the watchman from the window," said Antara.

The watchman caught one person, while two constables, who were passing by, caught another. The third person was arrested on Thursday. Antara's mother Shikha said one of the men tried to shoot her but the gun did not go off. The police feel that the robbers may have attracted by Srivastav's TV popularity. Antara is a class VII student of Janakidevi Public School in Andheri and a diehard Shah Rukh Khan fan.
