Sporting ropes in a host of stars

Mohammedan Sporting stole the limelight roping in a host of stars including Nigerian Mike Okoro, Debjit Ghosh and Noel Wilson even as the club’s stand-off with East Bengal continued on three other players after the opening day of the soccer transfers here.

KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting stole the limelight roping in a host of stars including Nigerian Mike Okoro, Debjit Ghosh and Noel Wilson even as the club’s stand-off with East Bengal continued on three other players after the opening day of the soccer transfers here.

Okoro had done duty for East Bengal, while medio Wilson donned the Mohun Bagan jersey last season.

Among others, Habibur Rahman Mandal and K Kulothungon also deserted East Bengal and switched allegiance to Sporting, who managed to retain prominent players including Raman Vijayan, Gopal Das and Nasibul Haque. Sporting has also picked up Bagan’s Subhasish Roychowdhury.
