Shelley, Kusum win journalism awards

Shelley Singh of Economic Times, Delhi and Kusum Makhija of Indian Express, Delhi, have won the Eighth Polestar awards for best features in business and IT journalism, respectively.

CHENNAI: Shelley Singh of Economic Times, Delhi and Kusum Makhija of Indian Express, Delhi, have won the Eighth Polestar awards for best features in business and IT journalism, respectively.
  
The awards, instituted by the Polestar foundation for excellence in Indian Journalism, carries a prize of Rs 1 lakh for further education, a trophy and a citation.
  
The awards were presented by The Hindu Editor-in-Chief N Ram at a function here on Friday evening, in which violin exponent Kunnakudi Vaidynathan enthralled the audience with his recital.
  
Shelley was chosen for the award for his story on Temping called Temptation, when he was with Business World, while Kusum bagged the award for Inside the IT Budget.
  
The awardees were selected by a jury from 90 nominations received from journalists across the country.
  
The Polestar Foundation was setup in 1998 to recognise and  celebrate outstanding talent among Indian media professionals. The foundation through its annual awards, pays tribute to the media citizens' contribution, for their commitment to the Nation and its people, and also for tirelessly acting as a catalyst in disseminating quality information to the world.
