MUMBAI: The BCCI umpires sub-committee has recommended sweeping changes to improve the accuracy in decision making of the men in white. Incidentally, India has no umpire on the ICC’s elite panel. BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi said that the thirteen-member elite panel of Indian umpires stood scrapped as of now and all umpires would have to go through a written examination and prove their mettle in matches.

Match referees in first class matches are to be provided video feeds from four cameras installed along the boundary to facilitate them to make decisions. Former Test umpire S Venkatraghavan will be the chairman of a three-member committee that selects six umpires from a total of eight, who will be recommended to ICC’s and Asian Cricket Council’s elite panel.

Meanwhile, the white ball and colour clothing will make an appearance in the first class one-day competition and games will be played under floodlights wherever facilities are available. These are among the recommendations made by the BCCI tours and fixtures committee that met here on Wednesday. The South Africa A team will participate in the Duleep Trophy this year and will play five one-day games. Further, the supply line to the senior Indian team will get more international exposure, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said on Wednesday.

India, meanwhile, will travel to Sri Lanka for a tri-series, also featuring South Africa, in August and will take on South Africa in five ODIs and three Tests in an away series in Nov-Dec.

India A  will also travel to South Africa in March-April next year to play three Tests and five ODIs. After their tour of England that commences on July 9, the under-19 team will go to Pakistan in September this year to participate in three ODIs and two four-day matches.

Shah also said that Elite and Plate groups will be extended to u-17 cricket.
