SURAT/VADODARA/AHMEDABAD: Despite the Supreme Court order asking medicos to discontinue anti-reservation stir, over 6,000 private clinics, nursing homes and hospitals remained shut across Gujarat on Tuesday. However, a majority of junior doctors have re-joined duty in Ahmedabad. Some of the medicos in Vadodara continued their hunger strike.

Nearly 4,000 private clinics downed shutters in Ahmedabad alone, followed by Rajkot, Morbi and Mehsana.

State secretary of Indian Medical Association Dr Bipin Patel said, “In Rajkot, even ayurvedic and homeopathic doctors participated in the agitation. Many medical stores remained closed.”
