Mumbai travel agent dies in J&K scuffle

A travel agent from Mumbai died and another was injured in a scuffle that broke out between them and boatmen at the Dal lake in Srinagar.

SRINAGAR: A travel agent from Mumbai on Saturday died and another was injured in a scuffle that broke out between them and boatmen at the Dal lake here over fixing of the rate for a Shikara ride, police said.

 

Two travel agents of the Tanman Group from Mumbai had a heated exchange with boatmen over rates for Shikara ride on the famous lake on Saturday afternoon.

 

The quarrel soon came to blows in which the two travel agents received injuries, police said. The injured were rushed to a local hospital where one of them identified as Dhiresh Shah breathed his last, they said.

 

A case under Section 302 of IPC has been registered against the boatmen at police station Nehru Park and investigation has started, the police said.  No one has been arrested so far in this connection, police said.
