Priyanka's ex-secretary seeks anticipatory bail

MUMBAI: Prakash Jaju, the former secretary of actress Priyanka Chopra, on Wednesday filed anticipatory bail application in the sessions court here.

In his application, Jaju states Priyanka’s mobile numbers and his own, while inviting the police to obtain texts of the smses exchanged between them. He says, “You will be shocked to read these SMSs (which Priyanka sent).”

Jaju has alleged that the complaint filed by Chopra’s father, Ashok, is malafide and false with ulterior motive to coerce him into giving up his rightful dues and ‘to humiliate and disgrace him out of vengeance.’

The application imputes ‘Ashok Chopra and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who is influential political personality’ have used political and financial means to influence the police to register a frivolous complaint against Jaju on May 22 ‘instead of taking action on Jaju’s complaint against the Chopras filed a day earlier (May 21).

Jaju and Priyanka fell out over payment of the former's fees as her agent. Jaju has said in his anticipatory bail application that he had entered into an agreement with her for years 2001 and 2002, and as per the agreement, Priyanka owed him Rs 69 lakhs.

He denied that he ever threatened her or sent vulgar SMSs. He also claimed that he had earlier filed a suit for the recovery of his dues in metropolitan magistrate's court, but later withdrew it when Priyanka agreed to settle the matter amicably.
