BANGKOK: At least 100 people have died in flash floods and landslides in north Thailand this week, official sources said.

The floods, caused by unending heavy rain, have marooned over 1,000 passengers in four trains in Uttaradit province, about 500 km north of Bangkok.

Boonriang Chuchaisaengrat, chief of the Uttaradit Public Health Office, said more than 100 people had been killed in the natural disaster.

Bodies of 30 victims had been recovered so far with continuing rains hampering rescue efforts.
