JALANDHAR: Medical students agitating against the reservation issue, on Saturday inked in blood a protest letter to the Centre on its OBC quota hike proposal.

Students of the Dayanand Ayurvedic College here sent the letter, reportedly written in blood, to the Centre to register their protest against the proposed hike in reservation in elite institutions of higher education, students said.

They shouted anti-government slogans and distributed pamphlets in the city to "educate" youths about the possible impact of the reservation proposal, Dr Atul Ashotosh, leading the students' group, said.

"To muster the votes, the government is lending a deaf ear to the voice of agitating youths and suppressing them through stern methods like cane-charging," Ashutosh said.

"Our fight is not against any caste but against casteism and nobody can dissuade us from our protest," he added.
