MUMBAI: Rushabh Parekh and Dhruv Gurwara rallied to enter the boys’ under-16 main draw following hard-fought wins, in the Xtra Premium National Series Tennis Championship, co-sponsored by Deewan Housing, at Practennis, Andheri on Sunday. On a day of close encounters, Gurwara ignored the loss of the opening set and snatched a thrilling decider to prevail over Vaidik Munshaw 2-4, 4-2, 5-4 in the final qualifying round. Parekh also dropped the opening set before cruising to a 2-4, 4-1, 4-1 win over Mani Mishra in another tie. Hardarshan Singh also endured a strong challenge before fashioning a 2-4, 4-1, 5-3 win over fancied Om Dalvi in an exciting boys under-14 final qualifying match.
 
Bhosale CC win
 
Bhosale Cricket Club beat New Amrit Cricket Club by 161 runs in the X Indian Gymkhana Invitational Cricket tournament here on Sunday. Half-centuries by Shardul Gokhale (61) and Javed Mokashi enabled Bhosale CC to post 243 on board and later Vijay Gohil ran through the Amrit CC batting line with a rich haul of four for 13 as they were bundled out for 82 with seven overs to spare. Shardul Gokhale was later adjudged as the Man of The match.
 
Santa Cruz triumph
 
Santa Cruz Gymkhana claimed both the men’s and women’s first division titles in the Mumbai Suburban District Annual Table Tennis League, which concluded at Khar Gymkhana. Santacruz Gymkhana (men) in the process made it a hat-trick winning the title for the third year in succession.
