Pilotless aircraft Lakshya passes test

BERHAMPUR (Orissa): The sea version of the pilotless target aircraft Lakshya was successfully tested over the Bay of Bengal from a range at Gopalpur near here on Friday.
 
Lakshya was launched at 9.33 am by the target support unit of the Army Air Defence College at Gopalpur, a defence release said.
 
Today's was the second test of the aircraft from the range as it was also flown on May 10, it said.
 
Lakshya, indigenously developed by the Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Establishment, flew for 35 minutes. It is used as a target for firing by air defence weapon systems.
    
Lt Gen K S Dogra, Director General of Army Air Defence, witnessed the test.
 
Scientists from ADE, the Indian Air Force and the Navy supported the launch and recovery of the Lakshya.
