MUMBAI: Political parties in BMC adjourned the House on Monday. They were angry at the administration’s failure to produce findings of the one-man committee set up to probe the Crawford market deal.

They decided to halt proceedings till the findings of the committee were made public. On April 7, Municipal Commissioner Johny Joseph had promised to probe the deal within a month by appointing, Additional Municipal Commissioner (projects) Manu Kumar Shrivastava as the investigating officer.

“Why has the administration not submitted its report within a month? And how can the administration sit on such an important issue for so long?” asked Nationalist Congress Party leader Ravindra Pawar, raising the issue in the civic house.

Newly-elected Congress corporator from Vakola, Dharmesh Vyas said the probe should be handed over to a retired high court judge and not to an officer from within the BMC. “Joseph should also tell us why there was a delay when he himself promised to furnish the findings within a month,” Vyas said.

Joseph promised to table the report by May 20.
