SRINAGAR: Protests continued for the second day in Srinagar on Saturday as hundreds of students of Kashmir University came out on the streets.

Carrying banners, the students demanded that the police officers and ministers involved in the sex racket should be exposed. Police had to use tear gas to quell the mob. "We want these blackmailers to be exposed. They are a slur on our society", said Mohammad Rafiq, a post graduate student.

What has angered the people is the alleged involvement of the two former ministers, three SP rank officers, seven DSP ranks officers and one DIG rank officer of para military organisation besides several businessmen.

The story dates back to February when people of Habba Kadal locality approached the Shaheed Gunj police station with a CD containing a porn clip of 15-year-old girl. Police summoned the girl and her parents and during questioning the girl revealed the details.

The girl named Sabina as kingpin of the racket. The girl told the police that Sabina lured young girls, filmed them nude and then blackmailed them into prostitution. Police say there are 43 girls who have been forced into prostitution. These girls were regularly supplied to different people including ministers, police officers and paramilitary officers.

Sabina in fact was arrested first in 2004 on similar charges of luring girls into prostitution. Police had raided some alleged brothels and arrested two clients from Jammu. They were shown to the media and later got bail.

Meanwhile, prominent Kashmiri filmmaker Ashok Pandit told DNA from his Mumbai home that Bollywood supports the people of Kashmir and will send a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad demanding a probe.
