One may have also noticed Mahinder Singh Dhoni sporting a chunky gold chain with a 7-shaped pendant around his neck.
These are not incidental.
Dhoni and Uthappa, along with team members, have sought a more harmonious alignment of planets in their sun signs through celebrity numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani.
The numerologist, whose spell craft has turned fortunes of the who’s who in the country, worked on the players’ numbers and came up with a performance enhancing formula.
On Jumaani’s recommendations Uthappa has sewed on a cloth patch on his shirt to cover the number 26 allocated to him initially.
According to the numerologist’s suggestions, Uthappa should either sport 72, 42 or 51 on his shirt for luck.
Since 26 (2+6=8) represents Saturn – considered a disruptive planet – Uthappa’s performance was not up to mark, Jumaani told DNA.
“He told me it will take time for the Board of Control for Cricket in India to give him a new number. So I have asked him to use the covering patch to diffuse negatives vibrations of 26. He must wear a red coral which is his birth stone,” said Jumaani.
Born on July 7, Dhoni’s lucky number is seven. He has been advised to display the number prominently on his person.
Among new comers, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth also consults Jumaani. The player has been asked to wear a ruby and sport number 36 on his shirt.
“This number adds to nine, which represents Mars, the planet of energy. Since he started wearing it, he has been in the limelight. Of course, you cannot rule out hard work,” Jumaani said.
Team captain Rahul Dravid is also a follower of numerology. He started sporting his 19 number jersey following advice. The number adds up to one, which is synonymous with recognition.
Dravid used to wear a number 5 earlier. Now, Dravid’s fate has taken a dramatic turn, claims Jumaani. “His performance improved and he became the International Cricketer of the Year and got a Padma Shree,” said the numerologist.
Though Mohammed Kaif was introduced to Jumaani by Dravid, the former refused to wear number 37 instead of 11 that he sports.
However, after a spell of mediocre performances, the Kaif camp conveyed to Jumaani the cricketer’s willingness to consult him.
Virender Sehwag is also a disciple of the numerologist. Recommended number 46, Sehwag continued to don number 44 for at least 30 matches following his consultation. Since 44 (4+4=8) represents Saturn, Sehwag was not too high in the luck quotient.
“He did well when he wore white clothes without the number. Now Sehwag has decided to wear the number 44,” stated Jumaani.
