AHMEDABAD: In an effort to stem union activity in the police force initiated by two constables, city police commissioner K R Kaushik on Thursday passed strict instructions to the constabulary not to attend a meeting convened to chalk out plans to form a union which is scheduled to be held on Friday here.

Kaushik passed strict instructions to all those involved in union activity that the Gujarat Director General of Police has not given permission to attend Friday's scheduled meeting, official sources said.

The commissioner has also directed the constables not to heed to the words of one Naresh Brahmbhatt, a head constable with Kutch district police and his colleague Kantibhai, who are heading the union activity, they said.

Brahmbhatt and Kantibhai are accused of not reporting to work for long and departmental action will be taken against them, sources said.

Senior officials have also issued circulars to all police stations with instructions not to attend Friday's scheduled meeting and not abide by what Brahmbhatt and Kantibhai say.
