NEW DELHI: The BJP will be launched in Ujjain on Sunday. No, it's not Bharatiya Janata Party we are talking about but Bharatiya Janshakti Party. Ironically enough, the new one claims to be the "real BJP".

What's more, the avowed aim of the "fiery Sanyasin" from Madhya Pradesh, the new party's chief Uma Bharti, is to “displace the fake one” led by the likes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.

Bharatiya Janshakti Party will be pitted against the Bharatiya Janata Party in all Hindi states where the BJP has tried to build a mass base during all these years. BJP president Rajnath Singh may not have found any takers for his idea of discarding the party's green and saffron flag to an all saffron flag, but Bharti has lapped it up with all earnestness.

Her party's flag is almost like the one perched atop a temple, with a sun in the middle. On Saturday, a four member constituent assembly met to draft the constitution of the party and present it to Bharti in Dhar.

Leaders from BJP, Madan Lal Khurana, Sanghpriya Gautam, Swami Chinmayanand, Poornima Sethi will be present for the launch in Ujjain on Sunday. Bharti's trusted lieutenant Prahlad Patel is expected to be secretary-general of the new party.

Bharti would start the big day by visiting various temples after which she would launch her new party and unveil the party flag. Patel said Uma was providing an “alternative for the honest and dedicated workers of BJP.”
