A high-level team of officials is being deputed to Afghanistan to assist in efforts for securing release of Indian engineer K Suryanarayan from the clutches of Taliban.

NEW DELHI: A high-level team of officials is being deputed to Afghanistan to assist in efforts for securing release of Indian engineer K Suryanarayan from the clutches of Taliban.

The team will be headed by Joint Secretary in External Affairs Ministry K B S Katoch, official sources said.

The team is expected to leave by Saturday night, they said.

The decision comes in the wake of Taliban, abductors of the engineer, threatening to kill their hostage if all Indians did not leave Afghanistan by Sunday evening.
