MUMBAI: After having spent a tense Saturday, smiles returned to the faces of Mahajan-Munde family members on Sunday morning as brother-in-law Gopinath Munde brought the good news of his slight recovery to the anxiously waiting relatives on the 15th floor of Hinduja Hospital.

Munde and Mahajan’s son Rahul Mahajan said Mahajan had given positive response to their brief talk they had when they met him in the morning. Rahul Mahajan assured his father that he would get well soon.

Rahul Mahajan said his father exhibited signs of  “consciousness” when he tried to respond through gestures when he asked him how he was feeling.

“The glint in papa’s eyes and slight movement of fingers have kindled hopes in us,” Rahul said.

Munde informed waiting relatives that the doctors from London had expressed satisfaction on the treatment the doctors had adopted. The internal bleeding was stopped and Mahajan briefly made some slight movements of fingers to their brief queries.

Family sources said doctors, who arrived from London, had come prepared expecting the worst. All the doctors held a closed-door conference with close family relatives and informed them about the progress of the treatment.

Pramod Mahajan’s elder sister Pratibha, his sister-in-law Sulekha Joshi, brother-in-law Anil Hamine, nephew Joshi and other close relatives were at the hospital. Rekha Mahajan appeared much relaxed on Sunday.

None of the close family members slept for the last 24 hours. After having spent the entire day mostly on liquid diet, they for the first time had a full lunch on Sunday.
