Pune: City is going to face another phase of load sheddings but this time for all the better reasons. The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), has taken up initiatives to increase power supply during the summer months, however this extensive project might spell power cuts for Pune between 25 to 27, April.

The power project is being carried out between Akola and Aurangabad. According to the MSETCL officials, the power is being generated in the eastern parts of the state while the demand for the electricity is more in the west. They also stated that after completion of their extensive project they would almost double the supply, to over 2000mw of electricity.

Keeping in mind the hot months ahead, the authorities have decided to speed up their work and complete the whole initiative in two days to avoid unnecessary load sheddings. Apart from Pune, the other cities expected to be affected by this project include Aurangabad, Jalna, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Baramati, Solapur, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

People of Karvenagar area faced blackout on Wednesday night, since 9.30 pm due to sudden power failure. According to the officials it was due to faults developing in the power cables to the transformers serving Swarnaratna society and Thorat colony. However, MSEDCL on Thursday afternoon, ensured the area had at least 6 hours of electricity by rotation and assured they are working on a permanent solution.
