Rajesh Khanna donates Rs1 lakh for residents of Ulhasnagar

Bollywood super star of yesteryear donated Rs1,01,000 to the residents of Rani Maa apartment, which came under the hammer during the recent demolition drive.

Bollywood super star of yesteryear Rajesh Khanna  donated Rs1,01,000 to the residents of Rani Maa apartment, Ulhasnagar, which came under the hammer during the recent demolition drive.
 
Khanna blamed local politicians for the state of affairs in Ulhasnagar. “Many buildings have been saved now, but what about the ones which have been demolished?” he asked. He  was in Ulhasnagar to receive the Yugantar Gaurav Puraskar 2006 awarded by Chandibai Himmatmal Mansukhani (CHM) College as part of the Gaurav Diwas celebrations. Singer Suresh Wadkar was awarded the Gaurav Puraskar.
 
The college has been celebrating Gaurav Diwas for the past six years to honour eminent personalities from various fields.
 
“Rajesh Khanna and Suresh Wadkar belong to the Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board (HSNCB) family. Khanna graduated from KC College and Wadkar was a student of RD National College, which are run by HSNCB.  They are here at CHM College, which is also a part of HSNCB,” said college Principal Dinesh Panjwani.
 
Wadkar spoke of his student days. “I was a student of BPM School in Khar. I used to wait daily to watch Kaka (Rajesh Khanna) pass by the same road I took,” he said. Wadkar then sung few lines of the song Tumse milke from the Parinda.
