The Pune Nagrik Sanghatana (PNS) has fielded 30-year-old Siddharthya Roy from Panel No 9 (Baner-Balewadi) for the Pune Municipal Corporation polls.

“The country has been talking about wanting a positive change with the inclusion of educated and young politicians. The need for an alternative has appealed to me to contest for the civic polls this year,” said Roy, who completed his mechanical engineering from the University of Pune.

While completing his engineering education, working as a software professional for a few years and later as a design engineer at one of the waste treatment solutions companies, Roy, who was born and brought up Pune, has all along been actively engaged in community service activities.

Roy will represent areas, including Balewadi Gaonthan, Baner Gaonthan, Pancard Club, National Insurance Academy, Someshvarwadi, Sutarwadi, Indian Meteorological Department, National Institute of Virology, NCL and NICMR.

An active member of student-activism programmes for past 11 years, Roy said, “It is the only medium through which we can reach citizens at the grass-roots level and solve their problems. The citizens of ward number 9 are anticipating change in the leadership. People believe that change is a slow process, but it is high time we fight this stagnation.”

The aspirant said that PNS would neither give money to anyone campaigning for the party nor put up flexes.
