The Hinjewadi police arrested Jaipal Rajendra Pethe (23) for making a bomb hoax call to IBM, based in Hinjewadi IT Park, on January 3.

The suspect, who was working with the software firm as a security guard six months ago, was picked up from Nanded on Sunday.

According to the police, Pethe told security guard Sambhaji Gaikwad that someone has kept a bomb on the company premises. Later, the police asked employees to leave the campus.

Hinjewadi police station assistant inspector DD Jagdale told DNA, “We traced the details of the cellphone call made on Gaikwad’s cellphone. We found that the SIM card belonged to a girl, who had lost it and failed to register a police complaint. Most calls were made from Nanded area.”

“We suspect Pethe’s statement that he had bought the SIM card and made the call just for fun,” he said.
