Unable to think up ways of paying his debts, a caretaker of a transport company based in Worli committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the office.

“The decomposed body of Ishwarlal Bhandari, 47, was found hanging in the office of the IFCM company located on the second floor of Navjeevan Cooperative Housing society, BG Kher Marg, Worli, on Tuesday morning,” said assistant police inspector Rahul Khot of the Worli police station.

He said the police also found a handwritten suicide note in Hindi. In the note, Bhandari stated that nobody should be held responsible for his death. The note was wet, and so the police could not read it entirely.

Khot said he suspects Bhandari killed himself on Friday night after the office staff left. The police are yet to find out the extent of his debts, Khot said, adding that the body has been sent to Nair Hospital for post-mortem.

He said the office was closed for three days till Monday. On Tuesday, around 11 am, one of the staffers came to the office and was shocked to find the decomposed body of Bhandari hanging from the ceiling. He contacted his superior, who in turn contacted the police.
