Women get 10% property tax rebate: PCMC

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) general body (GB) on Thursday approved the proposal to grant 10% concession in property tax to women with properties registered in their names.

The standing committee had approved the proposal on the occasion of World Women’s Day on March 8, and tabled it before the GB. A similar concession has already been granted to ex-servicemen.

Civic officials said the tax relief to women would be implemented immediately. The benefit will be provided only after producing legal documents of the property, showing that it is owned by women, besides clearing outstanding civic dues.

Shiv Sena corporator Sulbha Ubale said, “The PCMC should give 10% concession to all property holders who pay taxes on time, instead of giving it only to women.”  However, mayor Yogesh Behl turned down the proposal.
