Witness to friend’s suicide jumps from flat, survives

Twenty-five-year old Nisha Pokan, who on Monday witnessed her friend Vishal Gambhir’s suicide from the 18th storey, allegedly tried to kill herself by jumping from the fourth floor of her residence in Andheri (West). 

In the incident that took place around 12.15pm on Wednesday, Pokan was rushed to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where she still lies unconscious after sustaining multiple fractures.

“Pokan was married a year ago, but was residing with her family in Four Bungalows, Andheri (West), for the past few days. We are trying to find out if she jumped or fell accidently. Her family are in shock so we have not recorded their statement,” said senior police inspector Vijay Bhoite of the DN Nagar police station.

Additional commissioner of police (north region) Ramrao Pawar confirmed that she was the same woman Gambhir was in love with.
