Walk into the boogie trap

Bipasha Basu will perform live for 20 minutes in Hotel JW Marriott at Juhu on this New Year’s Eve. She is reportedly charging close to a crore of rupees and the patrons will have to pay in turn an entry fee of Rs11,500 to the five-star hotel.

Basu is — both figure-wise and figuratively — the tallest of them all; other hotels have roped in actors Koena Mitra, Tanushree Dutta, Rimi Sen, Sayali Bhagat, and pop singer Mika Singh and rock band Euphoria for anywhere between Rs5 lakh to Rs35 lakh.

The irrepressible Rakhi Sawant will be performing live at Tulip Star Hotel along with Abhishek Awasthi. The duo is charging Rs25 lakh, said an insider of the event management company who is organising the show.

The bottom line (no pun intended) is that the income-tax department is keeping an eye on the events, on the high-spenders obviously.
