Troubled by bad products and services but don’t know how to make your experience known to others? Here is an opportunity to vent your anger. The Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI) is conduting a nomination drive to declare the Worst Product and Worst Service of 2011, inviting people to vote for their choices.

“We are sending out college students with forms. This time we’re planning to get responses from 10,000 people,” said Dr MS Kamath, honorary secretary of CGSI.

Last year, the CGSI had conducted a similar process but had taken suggestions from only 5,000 citizens. “People can also send their views by post, fill the nomination form on the website or email us,” said Kamath.

Consumers will have to mention the product/service and also the reasons for nomination, along with their address and phone number.

Kamath pointed out the response on the government-sponsored helpline. “Around 2,500 calls have come to us. Most complaints are against the telecom sector. That is followed by the petroleum and LPG sector, education, real estate and medicine,” said Kamath, adding that telecom complaints were the highest since it affects consumers directly.
