More than 200 students of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) on Wednesday organised a rally in support of Anna Hazare, the anti-corruption crusader.

The students marched from Kondhwa to Balgandharva Rangamandir Chowk, the epicentre of the agitation in the city. They raised pro-Hazare slogans while travelling a distance of about 10 km on foot.

The students also touched four colleges — Pune Vidyarthi Gruha College of Engineering, Marathwada Mitramandal College of Engineering, Modern College and Shahu College — to request the students of those institutes to organise such rallies.

“Our intention is to drive home the point that as students we are concerned about rampant corruption prevailing in the country,” said the students.

The students expressed their anger towards a section of educational institutes charging huge money in fees.

“We also want better infrastructure like good roads. Such things are not possible unless corruption is tackled,” the students remarked.
