The Vikhroli police are working hard to crack the murder case of the fifty-year-old woman who was robbed and killed at her residence on Wednesday and are leaving no stone unturned to nab the accused involved.

Relatives of the deceased who, after performing the last rites of the deceased, have been giving their statements to the police. Investigators have been grilling the relatives with various questions, trying to find out further details about there whereabouts on the day of the incident.

The deceased identified as Latika Krishna Kamble was found dead at her residence in the Kalpana Vihar society of the Kannamwar Nagar in Vikhroli. She was attacked by a blunt heavy weapon and the injuries were on her forehead, right ear and central part of the head. The head injury and heavy bloodloss caused her death. The prima facie evidence in the case pointed out that there was no sign of anyone forcing their way inside the flat. All the things in the flat were in their place other than the cupboard keys which were missing. Rs30,000 and 20 grams of gold jewellery was not stolen, while the accused took away the deceased's jewellery worth Rs66,000. No sign of any struggle was found inside the flat and the deceased  was placed on a bed with a blanket on her body to make it look like she was sleeping.

There were no blood stains anywhere in the house, except for the pillow on which the deceased's head was laid.

Kamble stayed in the flat with her son, daughter and nephew. The nephew Sandeep Mane was the first person to discover the murder. Though the three have told the police that they had been out for work, police are recording their statement  to get any possible clues in the case.

“Since the day on the incident , the prima facie evidence has been pointing out involvement of some person known to deceased as there was no forced entry. We are questioning all possible suspects in this regard so that the case could be cracked at the earliest, close relatives are being questioned at the first place” said a police officer.

Other than the relatives, few suspects and record sheet criminals have been picked up and are being questioned.
