Puneites have condemned the shocking incident of a youth slapping Sharad Pawar even as many said that this was indicative of the common man’s anger against ministers and politicians.

Condeming the action, former Union minister Mohan Dharia said, “I condemn this act. This is a democratic country and we have to follow some order and decorum. The action of taking law in our hands is not correct. This will break down the pillar of democracy.”
RTI activist Major General (retd) SCN Jatar said, “This should have not happened. The incident shows that people are losing all respect for ministers.”

Vrushali Karande, a resident of Wanavdi, said political parties “must think as to why layman has taken such a drastic step and this is not an action of an insane person, but a common voter.”

Supporting this point of view, another Punekar Gita Gite said the incident reflected the people’s disappointment and frustration with NDA government. “Instead of wasting time in calling a bandh in cities, we must think about what is missing among the people.”

On the other hand, Lucas Patole, a resident of Hadapsar said it was extremely insulting that a young person had slapped an elderly man. “It is against Indian values, but if this man is mentally stable, it also shows the anger and frustration of people regarding inflation, corruption. This had to happen, and both the central and state government should take this as an indicator of the people’s forth coming reaction.”
