The TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Pune chapter has launched the ‘level 1’ local competition of the All-Asia business plan competition (AABPC) for management institutes in the city.

An exciting international programme for graduate students in Asia in partnership with the Rice University business plan competition (RBPC), the AABPC will provide students with a real-world experience to fine tune their business plans.

Announcing the launch at a press conference recently, president-elect of Pune Chapter, Vishwas Mahajan, said, “Our plan is to host the AABPC competition every year so as to offer opportunities to management students and foster entrepreneurship qualities in them.”

The TiE chapters all over India will begin by hosting local competitions (level 1) in their community, after reaching out to local universities and others for prospective participants. “The winners and runners-up teams at the Pune level will receive cash prize of Rs50,000 and Rs25,000 respectively, sponsored by city-based PRAJ Industries,” said Neeraj Shah, president, TiE student committee, Pune.

The All-Asia finals (level 2) will be hosted by TiE Delhi, on February 10 and 11, 2012, giving a guaranteed spot for the winner at the Rice University business plan competition (level 3), which will be held on April 12-14, 2012, in Houston, Texas, US. The winners of the Delhi finals will receive coaching from TiE mentors and advisors prior to entering the competition at Rice University.

The AABPC will allow each B-School to submit three entries to their respective schools and not directly to TiE. “The last date for teams to submit executive level summaries is December 2, after which invited teams will get two-month training from the Pune chapter TiE members. The local level competition will be held at the end of January 2012,” said Shah.

The RBPC is the richest and largest intercollegiate business plan competition in the world. The competition is hosted and organised by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.
