Thief makes off with cash, valuables worth Rs14.64 lakh

An unknown person looted cash and valuables worth Rs14.64 lakhs from the residence of a Jogeshwari-based businessman on Sunday. The businessman's family was not presented at the home at the time of the theft.

According to police, the complainant Devji Gada, 55, resides in Saraswat Baug Colony on HF society Road in Jogeshwari (East).

Gada said in his complaint that it appeared that the burglary took place between 1pm to 4pm when he, along with his family, had gone to Shahpur in Thane for a pilgrimage.

“The thieves broke the latch of his house and entered in the house and made away Rs25,000 cash and 53 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs14.39 lakh from the cupboard. The incident came into light when Gada came at his residence on Sunday evening. He has lodged a compliant with the Jogeshwari police station,” said a police officer.
