Thane: Denied money for booze, man sets 22-yr-old wife, toddler on fire

According to police, the absconding accused Somnath Tayde got into an argument with his wife last night after she refused him money to buy alcohol.

A 22-year-old woman, along with her toddler son, was burnt alive allegedly by her drunkard husband at their residence in Kashimira locality here after she refused him money, police said today.

The victims were identified as Meena Tayade and her two-and-a-half-year-old son Vikas, they said.

According to police, the absconding accused Somnath Tayde got into an argument with his wife last night after she refused him money to buy alcohol. Enraged by this, Somnath allegedly doused Meena with kerosene and set her ablaze. Her toddler son was in her lap when the incident took place.

Police said the child was charred to death while Meena succumbed to her injuries in a local hospital.

Kashimira police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of IPC against Somnath.
