A teenager was stabbed to death by a group of 5-6 unknown miscreants in Mittal Compound of Mumbra locality, police said today.
The murder came to light on Sunday after which an offence under section 302 with 34 of the IPC was registered and a hunt is on by the local police for the killers.
PI BN Nagarkar of Mumbra police station told PTI that the youth identified as Asif Siddiqui (19) of Masjid Bunder had come down to Amrutnagar locality in the township on Saturday last to meet his relatives.
Later, when he was consuming alcohol with some youths in the locality, when he was attacked with sharp weapons by the accused, killing him on the spot, after a dispute.
Police said the victim suffered at least half a dozen stab wounds and an attempt had been made to gouge his eyes out.
They said the immediate provocation for the gruesome act was still not known.
