Slamming Maharashtra's Congress-NCP Government for not announcing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for cotton, Shiv Sena today said the reason given for the delay was a mere "eye-wash" and it will not tolerate this anymore.

"The government is not serious about cotton growers. To say that model code of conduct (official reason for delay) is in place is a mere eye-wash. Shiv Sena will not tolerate this  anymore," the party Executive President, Uddhav Thackeray, was quoted as saying in a release issued here.

Maintaining that the government is trying to skip its duty by citing code of conduct in place for the Municipal Council elections, Uddhav asked, "how come the code of conduct does not come when any other work is to be done?"

"There is no code of conduct for corruption, robbery and inflation. The farmer suicides in Vidarbha have not stopped due to code of conduct," he said.

The Sena leader asked the Government to immediately take a decision on the support price for cotton and soyabean crops.
