Earlier this month, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray announced his decision not to celebrate his birthday following the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai. However, his party’s mouthpiece Saamna seems to have gone the whole nine yards in doing just that.

On Wednesday, the newspaper published an 88-page special edition with pages full of advertisements from various companies, builders and party leaders wishing Thackeray a happy birthday.
Priced at Rs7, the advertisements in the newspaper include one from Colors TV, which had locked horns with the Sena last year over the reality show Bigg Boss for casting two actors from Pakistan. The Sena had even carried out a violent agitation at the television channel’s shooting site in Lonavla and tried to stop the shooting of the programme.

Recently Sena’s cine wing Bharatiya Chitrapat Sena (BCS) had again issued a threat when rumours began making rounds that Maria Susairaj, convicted for the Neeraj Grover murder case, was to be included in the new season of Bigg Boss. However, the disputes that once divided the two seem to be a thing of the past, as Colors wholeheartedly extended its wishes to Thackeray.

Following the Sena’s strong opposition to the proposed 9,900 MW Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant (JNPP), JSW Energy Ltd. which is building its thermal power plant in Jaigad, Ratnagiri, not too far from the JNPP site, also wished Thackeray. In fact, there was a special mention of the company’s commitment to environment protection and the Ratnagiri power plant.
