State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Thursday presented a compilation of alleged scams, collectively amounting to Rs34,000 crore, during the 10-year tenure of the Democratic Front (DF) government.

He alleged that the government has achieved nothing more than corruption in its tenure.
“At least 30 scams have came to light in the DF government’s tenure,” Gadkari said, adding sarcastically, “This government is responsible for a debt of Rs1,87,000 crore. If anyone announces an award for corruption, Maharashtra will certainly get it.”

Gadkari described the alleged scams as an act of “Alibaba and his 40 thieves”. When asked who this Alibaba was, he merely said, “Sau chuhe khake billi gayi Delhi”, in a reference to Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was the chief minister for seven years. He is now the union minister for heavy industries.
