For this German, it was going from reel life drug peddling to real life drug peddling.

Ralph Diersmanna alias Goose, 40, who played a drug peddler in the recently released Hindi film Dum Maaro Dum, was caught by law enforcement agencies on charges of drug trafficking. Officials from the Mumbai unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) nabbed Goose from the Macky market in Goa.

“During interrogation, Goose revealed that he has been coming to India for the past five years and has been staying in places such as Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai for two to six months. He came here this year in January and was going to return in June,” said Yashodhan Wanage, zonal director, NCB.

Officials arrested Goose based on the information provided by HP hotelier Krishna Singh, 27. Singh was arrested from a hotel in Sawantwadi, on May 3.

NCB officials found 3.5kg of high quality hashish, which is also known as Malana Cream, in Singh’s possession. It is the costliest form of hashish sold at Rs3,000 to Rs4,000 per gram in the international market. It is in great demand amongst foreigners visiting places like Goa, Hampi and HP. The seized contraband is worth around Rs1.2 crore in the international market.

Wanage said, “Goose is a certified radio technician working with a top company in Germany. It is suspected that he has connections with the local drug mafia and he got in touch with Singh through them. He was trying to procure a high amount of Malana Cream.”
Singh, a native of West Bengal, had bought two medium-sized audio speakers to hide the contraband and take it to Goa for delivery. He told NCB officials that he procured the drug from a person named Gangaram in Delhi when he was contacted by Goose.

“Singh has his own resort in HP, speaks fluent Konkani. He has confessed that he had delivered 2kg of Malana Cream to someone in Goa two months ago. It is suspected that he is part of a nationwide drug racket,” Wanage added.

It is suspected that Goose was procuring the drug for rave parties held at the end of the tourist season in Goa. He had adopted the nickname ‘Goose’  in Goa and was known by that name in the drug mafia.
