The senior citizens of the township celebrated holi in a different manner at Nigdi-Pradhikaran on Saturday. Kalamaharshi Walchand Kothadiya Art Gallery had organised a painting competition only for senior citizens. The contest received an
overwhelming response.

Nearly 100 senior citizens from Pimpri, Chinchwad, Wakad, Nigdi, Kalewadi, Sangvi and Talegaon took part in the competition. Almost all the participants were painting after 30 to 40 years but still they were enthusiastic.

Abhaykumar Kothadiya told DNA, “Due the huge response from the senior citizens, we had decided to conduct the competition again on April 3 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. All paintings made by the participants will be displayed in an exhibition on April 6.’’

Most of the participants said they loved painting but due to the busy schedule in their young age, they did not pursue it. In old age, due to health problems, they were not able to pursue their hobby.
