The city police are still clueless about the murder of the 22-year-old IBM techie, Darshana Tongare. Despite quizzing several people, the police could not make any breakthrough in the case.

A resident of Bavdhan, Darshana was brutally stabbed to death by unidentified persons on July 30 last year. Darshana's friend Abhijeet Taru had dropped her near the residential society on July 30.

As she was proceeding to her house, she was stabbed. Later she succumbed at a hospital late that night.

Darshana's father, who did not wish to be identified, told DNA that he is still hopeful that the police would be able to solve the case.

"I have a ray of hope and faith in Pune police that one day they will find the suspect. They are taking tremendous efforts to nab the culprit," the aggrieved father said.
Additional commissioner of police (crime), Anant Shinde, said that the case is a challenge for the police.

"We are still working to unravel the crime," he added.

The police said that they have collected lots of data related to Darshana's murder case. So far it has quizzed over 600 workers working in 16 under construction sites near that area.

Moreover, the staffs of 26 small hotels and restaurants, local auto drivers were also questioned by the police.

"We even thought that there could be a lookalike girl like Darshana who was the target of the killers. We probed this angle also. But it did not work out," the police said, adding that 34 of the victim's college friends were also quizzed.

The police prepared a list of 217 criminals out of which statements of only 70 were recorded.
