Pune organises elders’ day out on October 9

Janseva Foundation will treat the elderly to cultural programmes, lectures and musical events on October 9 to mark Senior Citizens Day.

Though the day was observed on October 1, the foundation, along with the Pune Municipal Corporation, Lions Club, International Longevity Centre, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan, will organise the programmes on October 9.

Shirol (Kolhapur district) MLA, SR Patil, will inaugurate the event to be held at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch from 9 am. Vanarai president Mohan Dharia will chair the opening session. Pune mayor Mohansingh Rajpal, socialist leader Bhai Vaidya, businessman Nitin Desai will be present. Veteran writer Pravin Davane will deliver a talk.

Veteran actor Shriram Lagoo will be felicitated on the occasion. Geeton ka safar, a musical by Jitendra Bhuruk, will be held from 9am to 10am. Cultural programmes will be organised from 2pm to 2.45pm.
