Pune NGOs plan host of events to mark 'Joy of Giving Week'

More than 54 events have been planned including feeding street children and awareness drive for mentally challenged kids.

The Joy of Giving Week that will be held from October 2 to October 8 across the country has brought together individuals, NGOs, organisations, corporates and educational institutions under one umbrella.

More than 54 events have been planned in Pune this year including feeding street children and awareness drive for mentally challenged kids.

Other activities throughout the week include: Tuesday, October 4:

Pledge to donate eyes in Ranjangaon organised by KK Nag Ltd

Dance Dance: Performance by students of Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT). This is the first time SIT is organising events for Joy of Giving Week.

Wednesday, Oct 5:
Traffic Awareness Drive: Mentally Challenged Friends (MCF) from Navkshitij will man busy junctions in Deccan and work with the traffic police to spread the message of safe driving.

Premiere show of Marathi film, Shala at E-Square, organised by Navkshitij.

Thursday, October 6:
Feeding Day for HIV orphans: Home for Children Foundation (HFCF) will provide nutritious meals to orphans in Katraj.

Friday, October 7:
Mobile smiley van: A mobile smiley bank will move across the city to collect donations and create awareness about  Joy of Giving Week.

Seva Day: The students of Symbiosis International School will conduct a ‘Seva Day’ to encourage participation in community service, integrating it with classroom learning.

Saturday, October 8:
Fund-raiser: Bramha Majestic, Kondhwa, will organise a fund-raiser from 4pm to 8pm.

Aarogya Bhondla: A cancer awareness programme through tradition of bhondla will be organised at Nivara Sabagruha, Navi Peth; between 2 pm to 5 pm. Bhondla will be followed by a speech by breast surgeon, Dr Anupama Mane.
