A 44-year-old fitness trainer from Pune is cycling through the country — a 11,645km journey from the base camp of Mount Everest to Kanyakumari — to spread awareness about the environment.

Narendra Singh is determined to cross the entire distance in 60 days and 60 nights on his bicycle with the same determination with which he spent an entire hour without oxygen when he climbed Mount Everest in April.

“This is an adventure of a lifetime and more than that, I want to convey the message of an eco-friendly lifestyle to the entire nation. In other words, you can call it as a cycle to recycle initiative,” he said.

Singh’s journey was flagged off by actor Shreyas Talpade and Vivek Kumar, CEO of Aamby Valley City, on September 16.

Through his journey, Singh aims to make people aware about the environmental problems and how to live an eco-friendly life style so that they can initiate such methods in their lives. “Instead of preaching to people about environment, such unique initiatives get noticed by the people,” Singh said.

“We are proud to be associated with this adventurous expedition and remain responsible towards our commitment to nature and thus being associated with this expedition is undeniable,” said Kumar.

Travelling through the heart of India for next 60 days and 60 nights, Singh has promised to undertake equally adventurous campaigns in the coming days, towards the cause of environment awareness.
