Pune cops nab Sudanese youngster with drugs

The arrested youth has been identified as Khalid Mahafoz Abdulwahab (25) of Bavdhan, who originally hails from Omdurman in Sudan.

The Bund Garden police on Thursday arrested a Sudanese youngster for drug peddling. The police also recovered cocaine and marijuana valued at Rs99,000 and Rs2 lakh, respectively, from him.

The arrested youth has been identified as Khalid Mahafoz Abdulwahab (25) of Bavdhan, who originally hails from Omdurman in Sudan.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the city crime branch laid a trap at Darode Mala in Koregaon Park and nabbed Adbulwahab with the contraband substance.

When the police searched his flat, they found his passport which stated that his visa had expired in June 17, 2011. The police also recovered a fake residential permit from his place.

After being produced before the court of judicial magistrate first class, RL Wankhade, Adbulwahab was remanded in police custody till January 15.
