The Chatuhshrungi police have arrested Rinku Bon Singh (36) for impersonating as a food inspector. He was nabbed when he tried to threaten a hotel owner for using a domestic LPG cylinder instead of a commercial one and demanded money.

The police said that Singh had visited the Aarambh Restaurant owned by one Bhujang Shetty and threatened Shetty for using domestic LPG cylinders for hotel purpose.

Shetty is said to have clarified that the commercial cylinders had been sent for replacement on Wednesday, and that he was using domestic cylinders on a temporary basis. Singh had visited the restaurant in a Tata Sumo car on which ‘Government of India’ was emblazoned on the bonnet. He had an accomplice waiting inside the car, who is said to have fled after Shetty called the police.

Student duped
Amol Deshpande (23), an engineering college student, was duped of Rs13,000 by one Aakash Aarya on the pretext of offering him a job in a Hinjewadi firm. The Hinjewadi police said that Aarya had befriended Deshpande of Solapur and invited him to Hotel Courtyard Marriot in Hinjewadi on October 18 and, after having a meal with him, asked Deshpande to give him his gold chain valued at Rs13,000 and fled with the chain.
