Pune cell to monitor poll code violation gets cracking

The code of conduct cell, formed ahead of the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) polls, removed a total of 4,826 banners and posters put up by political parties on Thursday.

Once the poll code comes into force, the parties cannot put up signboards, flexes or hoardings with political messages.
Therefore, the staff of the code of conduct cell swung into action from Tuesday and started pulling off banners, flexes and flags
in all the 14 wards in PMC limits.

On the first day after the code of conduct came into force, the cell removed a total of 5,221 banners and posters from all the 14 wards within PMC limits.

On the second day of the drive, the cell removed 1,318 boards, 1,745 banners, 283 flex, 1,160 flags and 320 posters in 14 wards.
Sangamwadi ward witnessed the strictest action where 1,111
objectionable signs were removed. Apart from that 840 signs were removed in Ghole Road ward office.
