Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, one of the chief promoters of Adarsh CHS, informed the two member commission probing the Adarsh scam that his good relations with ministers and bureaucrats helped the allotment of a plot to the Adarsh CHS.

“It will not be incorrect to say that my good relations with ministers and bureaucrats helped the allotment of a plot to Adarsh CHS,” said Gidwani.

In his deposition Gidwani agreed to the fact that in 2000 he was fully aware that the land in question should be given to the defence personnel.

Interestingly in spite of being one of the chief promoters of Adarsh CHS, Gidwani did not try to find out whether the land in question belonged to state government.

It was also revealed that on July 23, 1999, a meeting related to the allotment of a plot was held in at the official residence of the chief minister, Narayan Rane.

However, when showed letter dated August 3, 2000 to the chief minister, he agreed that he knew that the land in question was in possession of the local military authority (LMA) with a compound wall and gate.
